The Annual Neuqua Parent Round Table Meeting is Monday, February 3rd

Calling all Boosters & PTSA Members and Volunteers as well as Class of 2024 Parents.

NVHS Will Offer ASVAB Test on 2/27/20

Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors:

Do you know what your aptitudes and abilities connected to your search for a future career? Connect your skills and interests with appropriate career choices. The ASVAB Career Exploration Program is designed to:
  • Help you learn more about yourself and the world of work
  • Identify and explore potentially satisfying occupations
  • Develop an effective strategy to realize your goals
Neuqua Valley High School is offering the Armed Service Vocational Aptitude and Battery (ASVAB).

1:00 pm to 3:00 pm

Taking the test is free and participation does not commit you to the military in any way.

Please note that this is a non-student attendance day. You will have to provide your own transportation to and from Neuqua Valley. Students will need to bring their fully charged Chromebooks to participate in the online, self-paced version of the ASVAB.

There will be a follow-up interpretation session in March.

Please print or pick up a permission form in the Class House and return to Class House by Thursday, February 20, 2020.

Get Your Tickets for the 2020 Neuqua PTSA Mother Son Brunch

The premiere of the latest Neuqua Valley film “Mother Son Brunch”, which is co-produced by mothers and sons, will take over Bolingbrook Golf Club on February 16th, 10:00 A.M.-1:30 P.M. with Hypnotist, Jim Wand. Wand has been featured in previous NV productions and is always a hit. Food and fun will be served at the premier. As always, there are opportunities for fabulous swag.

Mother Son Brunch will be selling tickets at both Main and Gold campuses on February 12 during lunch periods. Get your tickets before they sell out!!!

Tickets to the event will also be available through Eventbrite from January 7th through February 12th. Access the website on a smartphone, computer or tablet to choose your seats OR table.

If you've attended the brunch in the past, you've enjoyed the slideshow of moms and sons. If you would like to be included in this year's show, please email 2 pictures to Nicole Hasan at no later than February 3rd. Please try to send one photo of you and your son when he was younger, and the other should be a current photo of you both... Make sure to label the email with both of your names.

Seal of Biliteracy - AAPPL Testing

Indian Prairie School District 204 has established the Illinois State Seal of Biliteracy Program to recognize high school graduates who have attained a high level of proficiency in one or more languages in addition to English.

The Seal of Biliteracy is awarded to those who demonstrate proficiency in English and whose second language proficiency level is equivalent to Intermediate-High, as determined by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages. Language proficiency testing will take place in the spring, and the cost will be $20.

A student can also qualify for a State Commendation Toward Biliteracy. This designation would be given in his/her transcripts.

Neuqua Valley Orchesis Dance Company Showcase 2020

Come celebrate many styles of dance at the Neuqua Valley Orchesis Dance Company Showcase 2020! This year's Showcase runs January 30th through February 1st at 7:00 pm in the Main Campus Auditorium and features student choreography in the ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, musical theater, and hip hop genres.

Tickets will go on sale during lunch periods at the Main Campus & Birkett Freshman Center beginning Monday, January 27th.

Mother Son Brunch and Event Fundraiser

Wand has been featured in previous NV productions and is always a hit.  As well as his motivational speaking, Egglesfield is known for his appearances on "All My Children" and designer runways.  Food and fun will be served at the premier.  As always, there are opportunities for fabulous swag.

NV Spoken Word Team MOD Pizza Fundraiser

Our Neuqua Valley Spoken Word Poetry Team is going to Chicago to compete in the Louder Than a Bomb Poetry Festival, the largest youth poetry festival in the world and we need your support! 

The NV Spoken Word poets, along with over 100 other Chicago area teams, will perform their original spoken word poetry in hopes of moving on to the finals. 

And it is really easy to support us. Just eat at MOD Pizza at Naperville Crossings on 1/23. 
Just make sure to mention our fundraiser at the register so that we will get the restaurant’s donation!

Exciting PTSA News!

We would like to thank all of you for your help this fall. We are proud to announce that we have met our budget goals.  You, as a PTSA did it!!!! With the help of all of you encouraging membership in our community. Supporting an end of year fundraiser to cover the final stretch of our budget gap. The Cozzzy Comfy sheet sales have currently a profit of $1350 and counting. You can order online until the end of January. (Our online code is: Neuqua Valley PTSA Q4.) We thankfully had some generous family and business donations. All of this made it possible to fund our original budget. We are actively looking at how to prevent this membership issue in the future and will continue to need your support and that of the NV Community. For today, please share in the excitement! We have yard signs, and senior breakfasts, scholarships, speakers and staff appreciation and so much more! Thank you.

Masterworks Concert - Thursday, January 16th

The 2020 Masterworks Concert will take place in the NVHS Auditorium on Thursday, Jan 16 at 6pm and 8:15pm. The format of the Masterworks Concert is similar to the Crystal Concert, a concert that features all areas of the music department playing in various spaces throughout the auditorium. This Freshmen concert is centered around a Masterwork performed by 9th-grade students, selections from Handel’s Messiah, as well as a Masterwork performed by older students, Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances from his opera Prince Igor. Many aspects of the concert, including the hiring of professional musicians and the creation of a composition specifically for this concert have been generously funded by the IPEF.

2020 Mother Daughter Luncheon & Fashion Show

Join us for the 2020 Neuqua Valley PTSA Mother-Daughter Luncheon and Fashion Show. This year we will continue with a fashion-forward event as we celebrate the latest trends for formal and casual attire as well as hot fashion tips in the industry. We also have enhanced our menu so it is truly a luncheon with a buffet that offers a great variety of food choices for all!

2020 Multicultural Show

Come out to see this year's Multicultural Show, Thursday, January 23rd at 7pm in the NVHS Auditorium. Acts include song and dance for different parts of the world, a sign language act, spoken word pieces and dance that reflect gender roles, and more!

Tickets are available at the ticket booth on the evening of the show. $5 for students and $7 for adults.

8th Grade Open House is January 15th. 2020

Class of 2024 and your parents, please join us on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, for our 8th Grade Open House. This event includes our Athletic Information Night at 5:30pm in the Main Building Commons and an Academic Tour that begins in the Main Gym at 7:00pm. Enter Door #53. This night will provide you the opportunity to talk with teachers, counselors, and coaches about opportunities in and out of the classroom.

International Career Fair Volunteers Needed

Parent Volunteer Opportunity
WHEN: Friday, January 24, 2020 (half-day or full-day)

WHO: Multilingual Parents and Professionals from Various Careers.
WHY: Share with students the value of knowing more than one language.

We are looking for family, friends and multilingual professionals who might be available to share how languages impact their professions on a daily basis.
