The Indian Prairie Educational Foundation is Hosting an Online Auction

The Indian Prairie Educational Foundation is hosting an online auction now through November 7 as part of its Team IPEF fundraising efforts.

You can bid on items, including private skyboxes for the 2015 High School Graduation ceremonies for all three high schools, golf packages, artwork, dining, and more.

Team IPEF has 31 runners who are participating in the 2nd Annual Naperville Marathon & Half Marathon on Sunday, November 9. Team IPEF members are helping to raise funds for their selected schools and the IPEF. Half of all funds raised go to support district-wide IPEF funded projects like teacher grants, science fairs and the Fine Arts Festival. The other half goes directly to a school selected by the runner. Collectively, team members have raised more than $18,000. The top three fundraisers' schools will receive additional funding.

Class of 2016 Perfect ACT Scores

Very few students get a perfect ACT score, even those who get into the country's top colleges. In fact, anyone scoring a 34, 35 or 36 is among the top 1% of test-takers in the country. We would like to congratulate the following students on achieving a perfect ACT score of 36: Natasha Gupta and Sarvasva Raghuvanshi.

Blood Drive - Monday, November 3rd

When you give... People live! The Class of 2015 will hold a blood drive on Monday, November 3rd. Students may sign up for the drive during lunch periods in the commons starting Wednesday, October 29th through Friday, October 31st. Students must be 16 or older to participate, and 16 year olds must pick up a parent permission slip at the sign-up table. All donors will receive free earbuds and a chance to win $1000 scholarships from Heartland Blood Centers on the day of the drive. Staff members and parents are welcome to donate without an appointment by checking in near the auditorium lobby on the day of the drive.

Trick-or-Treat for Unicef

If you haven’t seen them already, you will soon see some of our high school students out Trick or Treating for UNICEF. This fund raiser is being sponsored by the UNICEF Club. With Trick or Treat of UNICEF, a little goes a long way. Just $1 can provide a child with 40 days of clean drinking water. $5 will buy a soccer ball for children in refugee camps. $30 can vaccinate 280 children from measles. $100 will buy a bicycle that will be used to deliver medicines. $500 will buy a pump that provides clean water to a village or school!! Over the last six decades, Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF has raised more than $170 million to save and protect kids!!!! The UNICEF Club and the Interact Club are working together to raise awareness and funds for this worthy cause and any support that you can give us will be much appreciated!!!

Please join the Neuqua PTSA for the "State of Neuqua" address by Dr. Bob McBride on Wednesday, October 22nd at 7pm in the main building. Along with Dr. McBride's comments we will have round table discussions with Neuqua faculty. Don't miss this informative event!

NVHS Spooktacular Concert

Join the Neuqua Valley Symphony Orchestra and Wildcat Fiddlers for our annual Spooktacular Concert! This family-friendly, Halloween-themed concert will take place on Thursday, October 30 at 4:30 pm in the NVHS Auditorium. The performance will last about one hour. Featured music includes: Danse Macabre, Disney's Frozen, Devil's Dream, Happy Trails, and many more!

This is a free performance and no tickets are required. Students in the audience can march around the auditorium in our Halloween parade and receive FREE CANDY, provided they are dressed in costume of course. The musicians will wear costumes too! We hope to see you there!

Parent Teacher Conference Scheduling - Fall 2014

Online registration for the Fall Parent Teacher Conferences will open on October 14th for parents to plan and schedule conferences with teachers. All conferences should be scheduled using the online scheduler.
Conferences are 10 minutes in duration with a 5 minute passing period built into the scheduler. Parents will schedule in 15 minute blocks to allow for this time frame.
The three fall conference dates:
Fall Day 1 - November 4th – 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Closes 12 pm on 11/2)
Fall Day 2 - November 6th– 4:30 - 8:00 PM (Closes 4:30 pm on 11/5)

The Adolescent Brain: Strategies to Keep It Safe - Presentation

Please join the Social Workers of Districts 204, 203 and 200 as they present an informative, interactive evening, which includes a presentation by Dr. Celeste Napier, Rush University. Topics include: How adolescent brain development influences decision making; How adolescent drug use affects the developing brain; Teens' perspective on current drug use in the community; and Resources to increase Parent to Teen Communication Skills. Robert Crown Center for Health Education will review easily accessible parent resource videos and materials to encourage family conversation. A panel Q & A will follow the presentation.

PTSA Reflections

In its 40 year history, the Reflections Program has inspired millions of students across the nation and in American schools overseas to create works of art for fun and recognition. This is an extracurricular activity that urges students to express themselves as they explore the arts.
Students are encouraged to create and submit works of art in six different categories: dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, and visual arts, based on the 2014-2015 theme:

Tom Schlegal Memorial 5K

The TS5K will be Sunday October 19th at 8 am.  All runners will receive a free t-shirt, water bottle, $25 gift certificate to Soleil Spa, Free TCBY at finish, and other goodies.  Proceeds from the event benefit the Tom Schlegel Scholarship given to Neuqua Seniors and The Tom Schlegel Trust fund for his kids. This is a specific reminder to complete both steps of the transcript request process. If both of the following steps are not completed, your transcript request status is pending. 2015 Writers' Week Seeks Parent Involvement

Neuqua Valley High School invites parents and members of the community to participate in the 2015 Writers' Week, January 5-9. Entering its 3rd year, Writers' Week is a celebration of the power and importance of the written word and features students, faculty, alumni, and guest authors. This year we hope to showcase parents who write.     Upcoming College Visits at NVHS

    Nineteen post-secondary institutions will visit Neuqua Valley during the week of October 6. From East Coast to West Coast, colleges are interested in quality applicants, and they are clamoring for Neuqua Grads!

    NVHS AP State Scholar Announced

    The AP State Scholar recognition is granted to the one male and one female student in each U.S. state and the District of Columbia with scores of 3 or higher on the greatest number of AP Exams, and then the highest average score (at least 3.5) on all AP Exams taken.

    Please join us in congratulating the following NVHS Senior who has taken 20 AP exams and earned a score of 5 on nineteen of them (5 being the highest score on an AP exam), and a 4 on the other.
