Integrated Pest Management Notification

INDIAN PRAIRIE COMMUNITY UNIT SCHOOL DISTRICT #204
Indian Prairie School District 204
3003 West 103rd Street
Naperville, IL 60564

Dear Parent, Guardian or Staff Member:

Public Acts 91-0099 and 91-0525 mandate Integrated Pest Management (IPM) for Illinois public schools. IPM manages pest damage with the least possible hazard to people, property and the environment; including judicious use of pesticides. In this context, “pesticide” includes insecticide, herbicide, rodenticide, and fungicide.

IPM provides parents/guardians or staff members with prior notice of Fertilizer application. Please be aware that on Thursday, May 23 and Friday, May 24, weather permitting a fertilizer application will be applied to athletic stadium field at Neuqua Valley High School. This application will be a fertilizer application. We match application procedures to our school environment. All are approved for school use and are an important part of buildings and grounds maintenance. Typically, this application will not present a health concern to students or staff. However, it is the intent of IPM to allow those with special sensitivity to take appropriate precautions: in the case of children, as determined by a parent or guardian.

Please also be aware that on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, weather permitting, a weed control application will be applied to Lake and Shoreline at Neuqua Valley High School. We match herbicide and application procedures to our school environment. All are approved for school use and are an important part of buildings and grounds maintenance. Typically, this application will not present a health concern to students or staff. However, it is the intent of IPM to allow those with special sensitivity to take appropriate precautions: in the case of children, as determined by a parent or guardian.

If you have further questions, please call my office at (630)428-6005.

Sincerely,
Andrew Weed

2019-2020 Course Verification

It is that time of year for students in the Classes of 2020-2023 to review their course requests for the upcoming 2019-20 school year. Review them carefully; no action is required if all requests are correct. Elective course change request information is below. As a reminder level placements in core classes were completed on January 31st and will not be part of the change request process for NV. If there has been an extenuating circumstance that impacted your students programming this spring, contact the HS Department Chair for discussion. Any questions, contact your assigned Class House.

Class of 2020 – Class of 2022: This is done through Home Access Center (HAC) by clicking on the schedule link and scroll to the bottom of the page. Illinois State School Board Seeks Student Applicants

The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) invites Illinois public high school students who will be in grades 10, 11, and 12 in the 2019-20 school year to apply to join ISBE’s Student Advisory Council. Members of the council will engage in discussions about how the public education system can better meet students’ needs. The State Board is seeking diverse applicants to provide perspectives on equity and opportunity in Illinois’ public schools. The State Board also seeks applicants considering different opportunities after high school, including apprenticeships, military service, employment, and college.
The format and duties of the Student Advisory Council evolves each year based on members’ ideas. Past members have met with lawmakers, researched and presented on issues to the State Board, consulted ISBE staff on agency initiatives, launched an Instagram account, and developed the Student Voices website
Members attend several Board meetings in Springfield and meet as a council virtually throughout the year. ISBE reimburses students’ travel expenses.
The application is due May 31 and available at www.isbe.net/studentadvisory.
