18-19 News from the Guidance Team

Dear Wildcat Families,

The 2018-19 school year begins Tuesday, August 21st and we are excited to get started! Here are a few tips to help you begin your school year smoothly.

1. Schedules are viewable in Home Access Center. Print your finalized schedule on August 20th, and bring it with you to school on Day 1 August 21st. NV will not be printing schedules. We thank you for your cooperation to save on school resources! As a reminder, we are unable to accommodate any schedule change requests. If there is an error or an extenuating circumstance that has arisen, please contact your assigned counselor for review. To view your locker combination and network/Google/log in information, log in to HAC. From the home page, click School Links. Click Additional Information. Re-enter your login information to view. If your schedule is not viewable in HAC, please contact the appropriate grade level Class House Office.

2. Transcripts are updated and viewable in Home Access. Students in grades 10-12, please log in and review your transcript. If you see an error (e.g., summer course missing), please email your assigned counselor for assistance.

3. Families who have NVHS graduates, please let your alumni know that all alumni transcripts are available through the online service Parchment. Please direct them to the NVHS webpage, left side menu, click Transcripts, create an account with Parchment, and request transcripts. Alumni can request and pay for transcripts directly. This has greatly simplified and sped up the transcript request process. We are no longer able to accept paper requests/checks.

Wishing each family a wonderful close to summer and a successful year ahead. The Guidance Department looks forward to a great school year partnering with all of our Wildcat families.

2018 Neuqua Valley Guidance Summer Newsletter

Dear Wildcat Families:

The NVHS Guidance Department would like to thank you for your partnership and share some important information with you as we complete the 2017-18 school year and prepare for 2018-19:

Summer Guidance Department Hours
Summer hours go into effect Tuesday, June 5, 2018. Neuqua Valley is open Monday-Thursday 8:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Meetings with counselors are by appointment only. If you have a question or need to schedule an appointment, please call the NVHS main switchboard at 630.428.6000, and you will be transferred to a Guidance Team member who can assist you.

Report Cards - Transcripts
Semester 2 report cards and transcripts will be viewable and printable in Home Access Center (HAC) from June 9th at 12:00 p.m. through June 24th. During this timeframe, please remember to print a copy for your records to use for insurance discounts or personal record keeping. These records are available until June 24th when our student information system is then closed to prepare for the 18-19 school year.

Class of 2018: Final Transcripts
Congratulations to our graduates! Senior transcripts are viewable in HAC as well. Final transcripts were sent to the school designated on your Senior Checkout form. Transcripts for Class of 2018 are viewable through June 24th in Home Access Center. After that date, you can request a transcript from the Alumni Transcripts tab on the NVHS webpage

Naviance
Access Naviance over the summer for college & career planning. Log in using your student login. Student logins will be good until the end of the summer. Class of 2019 students are encouraged to access Naviance to research colleges and scholarships for senior college applications. All students are encouraged to log in to Naviance and access the Career tab to explore potential careers and career clusters. The Career Interest Profiler is a great tool for future planning.

Class of 2019: College Application Processing and Transcripts
During June, please review your transcript in HAC. If there are any errors or questions, email your counselor. The Class House of 2019 will accept college applications and transcript requests beginning Monday, September 3, 2018, for college acceptance in Fall 2019. According to the National Association of College Admissions Counseling (NACAC), colleges and universities are discouraged from beginning the application process prior to September 1st each year. Neuqua Valley High School follows the recommendations of this national organization. Please understand we are not staffed to process applications during the summer months. Detailed information about the college application process will be available for students and parents at Senior College Information Night Tuesday, August 28th at 6:30 p.m. (A-L) or 8:00 p.m. (M-Z) in the NV Main Auditorium.

Class Schedules for 2018-19
The window to request course changes for next year closed May 25th. The Guidance Department will work during the summer to prepare final schedules for the 2018-19 school year. Look for an announcement in mid-August about obtaining your finalized schedule.

Registration for 2018-19
In order to complete registration for the next school year, you must complete both the online verification and paper portion of registration which was mailed to your home. Failure to complete both steps by the deadline may result in the loss of your son or daughter’s class schedule from our system. Thank you for attending to the following steps:
Students who are currently enrolled have received registration packets for the 2018-19 school year. Please return these completed packs as soon as possible. If you did not receive a packet in the mail or if you lost your packet, contact the school and request to speak to a Guidance Team member.
Log in to Home Access Center using the parent (NOT student) login. Please review the detailed instructions for completing online registration. Online verification will not be available during rollover (June 25th through June 29th).
