Neuqua Valley Class of 2018 National Hispanic Program Scholars Announced

The College Board’s National Hispanic Recognition Program (NHRP) identifies academically outstanding Hispanic/Latino high school students. Each year, the NHRP honors students that scored in the top 2.5% among Hispanic and Latino PSAT/NMSQT test takers. In order to be eligible, students must meet these requirements: take the PSAT/NMSQT in October of their junior year in high school; be of at least one-quarter Hispanic/Latino descent; achieve the minimum required PSAT/NMSQT cutoff score (this index score may vary by state, region, and territory each year); and achieve a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher by the end of junior year.

Please join us in congratulating this year’s recipients: Diego Hernandez Nater, Karina Orozco, Corinna Pena, Jordan Rivera, Stephen Ruiz.

Integrated Pest Management Notification

INDIAN PRAIRIE COMMUNITY UNIT SCHOOL DISTRICT #204
Peter L. Vlamis, Facilities Manager
c/o Indian Prairie School District 204
3003 West 103rd Street
Naperville, IL 60564

Dear Parent, Guardian or Staff Member:

Public Acts 91-0099 and 91-0525 mandate Integrated Pest Management (IPM) for Illinois public schools.  IPM manages pest damage with the least possible hazard to people, property, and the environment; including judicious use of pesticides.  In this context, “pesticide” includes insecticide, herbicide, rodenticide, and fungicide.

IPM provides parents/guardians or staff members with prior notice of herbicide application.  As you have requested, please be aware that on Sunday, September 24, 2017, weather permitting, a weed control application will be applied to the turf areas at Neuqua Valley High School by TruGreen.  We match herbicide and application procedures to our school environment.  All are approved for school use and are an important part of buildings and grounds maintenance. Typically, this application will not present a health concern to students or staff.  However, it is the intent of IPM to allow those with special sensitivity to take appropriate precautions:  in the case of children, as determined by a parent or guardian.

If you have further questions, please call my office at (630)428-6580.

Sincerely,
Peter L. Vlamis

Know a Staff Member Making a Difference?

The Indian Prairie Educational Foundation is partnering with District 204 to recognize staff members who go above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of our students. During the school year, one staff member a month is selected to receive the A+ Award. Recipients do not have to be classroom teachers. Any staff member in the school who has made a difference is eligible.

Nominations must include an essay describing how the staff member has positively impacted students. We strongly encourage student nominations. Parents, alumni, and community members are also encouraged to submit a nomination.
All nominations submitted will be kept for consideration until the end of the current school year. Individuals are limited to submitting one nomination per year. Nominees must be currently employed by District 204.
To nominate a District 204 staff member, visit the A+ Award site.
