Dear Parent, Guardian or Staff Member:

Public Acts 91-0099 and 91-0525 mandate Integrated Pest Management (IPM) for Illinois public schools.  IPM manages pest damage with the least possible hazard to people, property, and the environment; including judicious use of pesticides.  In this context, “pesticide” includes insecticide, herbicide, rodenticide, and fungicide.

IPM provides parents/guardians or staff members with prior notice of Fertilizer application.  Please be aware that the following applications are planned.
  • Tuesday, May 09 and Wednesday, May 10, 2017, weather permitting a fertilizer application will be applied to athletic fields and common areas at Neuqua Valley High School. This application will be a fertilizer application. We match application procedures to our school environment.
  • Wednesday, May 10, 2017, weather permitting, a weed control application (Pond Dye Aquashade, Cutrine Plus & Diquat SPC 2L) will be applied to Lake and Shoreline at Neuqua Valley High School.  We match herbicide and application procedures to our school environment.
  • Tuesday, May 08 and Wednesday, May 09, 2017,  weather permitting, a weed control application will be applied to the mulched areas including the courtyards, fenced areas, fence lines (athletic fields) cracks and crevices and bleacher pads at Neuqua Valley High School. This application will be a “Post-Emergent and Spot Treatment”(Round-up). We match herbicide and application procedures to our school environment.
  • Friday, May 19, 2017, weather permitting, a weed control application (Diquat SPC 2L) will be applied to Lake and Shoreline at Neuqua Valley High School.  We match herbicide and application procedures to our school environment.
  • Sunday, May 21, 2017, weather permitting, a weed control application will applied to the turf areas at Neuqua Valley High School and Birkett Freshman Center by TruGreen. We match herbicide and application procedures to our school environment.
  • Monday, May 22, Tuesday, May 23 and Wednesday, May 24, 2017), weather permitting, a weed control application will applied to the mulched areas including the courtyards, fenced areas, fence lines (athletic fields) and bleacher pads at Neuqua Valley High School. This application will be a “Post-Emergent and Spot Treatment”. We match herbicide and application procedures to our school environment.
  • Tuesday, May 23, 2017, weather permitting, a weed control application will applied to cracks and crevices in the front circle of Neuqua Valley High School by Twin Oaks Landscaping.  We match herbicide and application procedures to our school environment.

All are approved for school use and are an important part of buildings and grounds maintenance. Typically, these applications will not present a health concern to students or staff.  However, it is the intent of IPM to allow those with special sensitivity to take appropriate precautions:  in the case of children, as determined by a parent or guardian.
