Parent Feedback Needed

Teachers, parents, and middle and high school students across Illinois have the opportunity to participate in the Illinois 5Essentials Survey. This survey was designed to generate a detailed picture of the inner workings of your child's school.
As a parent, your voice is essential to help us understand the conditions at your child's school and guide improvement.
The Illinois 5Essentials Survey is administered online by the University of Chicago, on behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education. The state will provide survey results for individual schools only if a school has at least 20 percent of parents take the survey. If you have children attending more than one school, we ask that you complete the survey for each school. All survey responses will be kept confidential.
To take this short survey:
  1. Visit Parent Survey Illinois 5Essentials
  2. Type and then select Dupage as District 204's County location. This is the county associated with the district, not the location of an individual school.
  3. Type your school's name into the School field and then select your school.

Course Selection Update and Deadline

Dear Wildcat Families:

Course selection for the 2016-17 school year is underway in Home Access Center (HAC) until the end of the day Thursday, January 28th. Students, please log in and finalize your choices. You may access information to help you with your decisions here: http://nvhsguidance.weebly.com/course-enrollment.html

If you desire a level change up for a core class, you must contact the appropriate department chair by Thursday, January 28th. If you would like to drop down a level from a recommendation in order to balance your course load, simply add the lower level request into HAC (e.g., teacher recommended Honors Geometry, but you wish to take Geometry). The counselor team will review all choices and adjust your course selections to a total of 7.0 credits. In May, you will be notified when you may log in to your HAC account and view your course selections.

Healthy Stress Management

Stress can be a reaction to short-lived situations, such as being stuck in traffic. It can also last a long time if you are dealing with relationship problems, a death in the family or other serious situations. Stress becomes dangerous when it interferes with your ability to lead a normal life over an extended period. You may feel tired, unable to concentrate, or irritable. Stress can also damage your physical health. Stress that is left unchecked or unmanaged is known to contribute to high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity, diabetes, and suicide.
