Alliance for the Children

Dear Neuqua Valley Community
It's that time of year again for Giving and 'kids helping kids!"
18TH ANNUAL Alliance for the Children Giving Tree Tag Drive-all school service project starts on November 29 and wraps up on December 21.

WHAT DO THE NEEDY CHILDREN RECEIVE
Neuqua is assisting the Alliance in providing over 3000 children in the Appalachian mountain areas of Virginia (Buchanan County) and Kentucky as well as almost 300 children in D204 and 6 D204 families with 'special circumstances'. Each of the children we assist will receive brand new coats, boots, outfits, underwear, socks, and 5-7 age appropriate toys.
THE PROCESS
1. Students watched a kick-off video during Advisory/Take 9 and then teachers distributed 'tags' with a code for needy child (we do not give out info on these children other than maybe a first name or a regional location-the tags are numbered for Alliance office use so we do now which kids are matched with each tag.)
2. This is a voluntarily all school service project so Students are not forced to take a tag but many have and many took additional tags.
3. Students will purchase the gifts on the tag(s) and should bring the NEW UNWRAPPED gifts to school from November 29-December 21. (Students should keep the top page of the tag for tax purposes and put the yellow copy of the tag in with their donation.)
DONATION DROP OFF AREA
Main-during 2nd period in the Auditorium Lobby Concession standBFC-during Advisory
GIFT CARDS
Some tags have gift cards listed from Old Navy, Target, Walmart, Kohls, and Burlington Coat Factory. The Alliance receives tax exempt status from these stores along with several discounts. Gift cards assist the Alliance in filling voids that may exist, such as a child requested a coat but no one took that particular tag. This is a convenient way to help!
