Summer Guidance Updates

Dear Neuqua Valley families:
As we conclude the 2013-14 school year, the NVHS Guidance Department would like to thank you for your partnership and inform you of the following:
Summer Guidance Department hours
Summer hours begin Monday, June 16th.  Our offices are open Monday-Thursday 8:00am-3:30pm, and meetings with counselors are by appointment only.  If you have a question or need to schedule an appointment, please call the NVHS main switchboard at 630.428.6000, and you will be transferred to a Guidance team member who can assist you.
Report Cards
Semester 2 report cards will be viewable in Home Access Center June 14th at 12pm.  The last day for students and parents to see the 2013-2014 Report Cards in HAC will be July 22nd. At that time, we will roll records over to the 2014-15 school year, and you will no longer have access to 2013-14 grades. If you need a printed report card for insurance discounts or personal record keeping, please remember to print before July 22nd.

Class of 2014: Final Transcripts

Congratulations to our graduates! Senior transcripts are now viewable in HAC. Final transcripts are being processed to be sent during the week of June 16th to the school designated on your Senior Checkout form.

Registration for 2014-15
In order to complete registration for next school year, you must complete both the online verification and paper portion of registration. Failure to complete both steps by the deadline may result in the loss of your son or daughter’s class schedule from our system. Thank you for attending to the following steps:
1)     Students who are currently enrolled should have received registration packets for the 2014-15 school year. The return date requested is Thursday, June 19.  If you did not receive a packet in the mail, you must bring the required proofs of residency to your Class House.
2)     Log in to HAC https://homeaccess.ipsd.org/HomeAccess/ using your parent login (not student login). Detailed instructions for completing online verification available here: http://www.ipsd.org/Subpage.aspx/eSchoolPlus

Naviance

Access Naviance over the summer for college & career planning.  Log in as a guest or use your student login:  https://connection.naviance.com/fc/signin.php?hsid=neuquavhs. Student logins will be good until the end of the summer.

Class of 2015: College application processing
The Class House of 2015 will accept college applications and transcript requests beginning Tuesday, September 2, 2014 for college acceptance in Fall 2015. According to the National Association of College Admissions Counseling (NACAC), colleges and universities are discouraged from beginning the application process prior to September 1st each year.  Neuqua Valley High School follows the recommendations of this national organization.  Please understand we are not staffed to process applications during the summer months. Detailed information about the college application process will be available for students and parents at Senior College Information Night Tuesday, September 2nd at 6:30pm (A-L) or 8pm (M-Z) in the NV Main Auditorium.
Class schedules for 2014-15
The window to request course changes for next year closed May 30th.  The Guidance Department will work during the summer to prepare final schedules for the 2014-15 school year.  Look for an announcement in mid-August about obtaining your finalized schedule.
Health information
Students entering 9th grade and students new to the district must present the State of Illinois required proof of physical examination and immunizations.  Please check the District 204 website for more information:  http://ipsdweb.ipsd.org/Subpage.aspx/RegExamsImmunization  Students in grades 10-12 planning to participate in athletics must have a current sports physical on file.
Driver Education Reminder
Students who take Driver Education through a private driving school must submit either a Certificate of Completion or Driver’s License to the Class House so the credit can be posted to your transcript. Please take care of this as soon as possible after completing your Driver Education course in order to meet this graduation requirement.
New to District 204?
If you are new to District 204 and plan to enroll at NVHS, call 630.428.6000 for an appointment.  Important information on enrollment is available at http://ipsdweb.ipsd.org/uploads/Registration/NewStudentRegistrationPacket1415.pdf . Please note the proof of residency requirements.
We are looking forward to the 2014-15 school year and to continuing our partnership with students and families. Please watch our website for a calendar of upcoming events.  Best wishes to you for a wonderful summer!
