Course Selection for 2014-15

The course selection process for the 2014-2015 school year has officially begun. Students received information about course selection on January 10th in a Core Course Recommendation homeroom. 
Teachers distributed grade-level specific Course Selection Tip Sheets to all students grades 9-11; the sheets outline the course selection process and provide key dates and deadlines.   • Over the next two weeks, teachers will share their recommendations for next year’s courses: core courses required for graduation and other suggested courses. Students should record recommendations and electives of interest on their tip sheets for reference. Please encourage your student to use this time to gather information about courses of interest by talking with teachers and counselors, accessing online resources including the 2014-15 High School Course Guide (available soon on the NVHS homepage), and seeking other departmental information in their current courses.

  • January 16th-January 28th—January 16th Home Access Center (HAC) opens for students to begin online course selection. Please note that teacher recommendations for required courses are pre-loaded into HAC. https://homeaccess.ipsd.org/HomeAccess/ All course requests must be entered by the end of the day January 28th using either the student’s or parent’s HAC username and password to log in.
  • January 29th through February 7th—Counselors meet with students through designated classes for brief individual conferences to finalize course choices. Students will be notified of their appointed time.
  • January 31st--Level Changes: To request a change in placement up a level, please contact the high school department chair by January 31st. Department Chairs will communicate approved or declined level changes directly to NV Guidance. To request moving down a level, please select the lower level online and the guidance counselor will remove the higher course.
