Sophomore Guidance Essentials

Sophomores will take part in Guidance Essentials Tuesday, Oct. 1st through Thursday, Oct. 3rd during all lunch periods in the Forum Room. Students are encouraged to attend on their assigned day when possible; Tues. Oct. 1st A-G, Wed. Oct. 2nd H-Pa and Thurs. Oct. 3rd Pe-Z.  Counselors will cover the following topics; ways for students to continue to "Explore, Experience and Excel" Sophomore year, new online resources, Naviance (NVHS college/career planning program), upcoming PLAN test, how to read and understand a transcript, Explore TCD opportunity, etc.

Annual KidsMatter Volunteer Fair – Hundreds of Opportunities to Serve!

KidsMatter will host its annual Youth & Family Volunteer Fair on Thursday, October 3, 5:30-7:30 PM, at the Naperville Municipal Center, 400 South Eagle Street. Tom Schlegel 5K

The annual Tom Schlegel 5K Run is at Neuqua Valley on Sunday, October 6th

Please join us for the 8th annual Tom Schlegel 5K Run and Post Race Raffle. The pre-registered participants will pay $30 for the race through active.com. This price includes a race goody bag with items from our sponsors, a water bottle, a t shirt, and post-race snacks (bananas, bagels, and TCBY Frozen yogurt)  and drinks.  All current Neuqua Valley students pay only $20.  Post raffle prizes include: Ipad, Lululemon Yoga Mat, and much more! The TS5k is held in honor of a great man. One of Neuqua Valley’s most inspiring staff members, Tom Schlegel passed away on October 13th, 2006, after fighting a year long battle of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. As a former physical education teacher and assistant football coach, he has impacted the lives of many over the years. Defined by his faith, love, and character, Schlegel was a humble man always putting others before himself and never taking recognition for anything. A loving husband, dedicated father, approachable teacher, motivating coach, and loyal friend, Schlegel simply lived life “the way everyone should.”
The race came about from Tom’s love of runs and fitness.

September College Visits

Attention Juniors and Seniors! Please see the attached list of colleges coming to visit in the month of September. If the college you'd like to visit is coming to Neuqua, please sign up using Naviance and print out a College Visit Pass for your teacher to sign. If you have option during a college visit, a pass is not necessary. If you do not see your college on the list, stayed tuned for upcoming visits in October and November.

Wildcat Wear Extended Hours for Homecoming Weekend

To help get you ready for the Homecoming Game, the Wildcat Wear Store will be open at both Main and Gold Building on Thursday, September 19 and Friday, September 20 during all lunch periods.

The Wildcat Wear Store has just received a new Under Armour Hoodie. The hoodie will be available for the first time this Thursday during normal store hours at both Main and Gold

Junior Guidance Essentials

Juniors will take part in Guidance Essentials Tuesday, Sept. 24th through Thursday, Sept. 26th during all lunch periods in the Forum Room. Junior year is an important year for students to begin the college search process and asking some very important questions themselves  Counselors will be discussing this and more! Attendance is required and will be taken.

Share your Soles

Girls tennis is collecting shoes of any type or size (Children, athletic, flip flops, snow boots high heels or soccer cleats just to name a few examples). Please donate gently worn shoes-no holes, still have soles and clean!

Just ask yourself, "Can they still withstand heavy wear?" "Would I be comfortable handing this gift to a needy person?"

Bring these shoes to NVHS on either campus and put in one of the shoe boxes located on campus. We will take donations September 17th - October 1st! Please help!!

Junior College Information Night on Thursday, September 26th

Please join us for Fall Junior College Information Night on Thursday, September 26th at 7 PM in the Neuqua Valley Auditorium. Counselors will provide an overview of college and career planning steps, standardized testing information, and Naviance.

Voice of Democracy Scholarship Competition

The theme for this year is “Why I Am Optimistic About Our Nation's Future.”
Again this year, the first place winner will receive $1,000 and the opportunity to compete at the next higher level for additional money. The second place winner will receive $500 and third place will receive $250.
The competition is open to all high school students and specific guidelines regarding the competition and entry forms can be obtained at: www.vfw.org/Community/Voice-of-Democracy.

All entries for this year’s competition need to be submitted no later than November 1, 2013. Entries may be dropped off in the canteen at the VFW Post in Naperville. The address for the VFW Post is 908 W. Jackson Avenue and the canteen can be accessed through the rear of the building. Students should place their entries in an envelope and put “Voice of Democracy” and Tom Parker's name (Coordinator) on the front of the envelope.

Neuqua PTSA Meeting


The first meeting of the Neuqua Valley PTSA will be Tuesday, September 10th at 9:30am in the faculty cafe. We will be kicking off the new year by approving the budget for the year.  All are welcome to attend.

Dear Senior families,

As you begin the college application process, please remember to check on Naviance for upcoming college visits, scholarship information, and scattergrams showing admission statistics for Neuqua Valley. Watch for important updates through our Naviance e-blasts.

If you are using the Common Application, the recommender link is now functioning. For your calendars, Financial Aid Night is November 20 at 7pm in the Auditorium.


Please make sure to stop in to the College and Career Center or the Senior House for any questions you may have about your college application process.

The Digital Footprint Project

In an effort to increase awareness of responsible citizenship, KidsMatter has partnered together with School Districts 203 & 204, the Naperville Police Department, and NaperBridge to offer students the opportunity to participate in a video project.
Digital Footprint Video Contest Students will complete a video submitted to either Mr. John David Son, Director of Instructional Technology for District 203, or Dr. Stacey Gonzales, Director of Instructional Technology for District 204, of 30 seconds to 2 minutes in length. The content of the video should address one of the seven domains of the Illinois Internet Safety Act and include the student’s name, school, and grade level.

  • Risks of transmitting personal information on the Internet
