One Book One School Program
Time Magazine called John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars an “instant classic.” The New York Times called it “sweet,
philosophical, and funny.” The Neuqua Valley Echo says it’s “stellar”!
Find out why so many Americans are talking about the story of
Hazel and Augustus, two star-crossed teens who met in a cancer support
group. Readers are welcome to join us in
January for a discussion with students, parents, social workers, and
teachers (stay tuned for details). Please, contact the NVHS LMC

Veterans Honor Garden at Neuqua Valley
A new veterans honor garden at Neuqua Valley High School paying tribute to the school's military alumni will be officially dedicated at a public ceremony over Veteran's Day Weekend, Sunday, November 10 at 3:00pm. Officials attending /participating at the dedication ceremony include Naperville's Mayor George Pradel, US Congressman Bill Foster, State Senator Michael Connelly and State Representative Darlene Senger.
Ethan Koska, a sophomore at Neuqua Valley High School, chose to create an honor garden as his Eagle Scout Project. Ethan, who aspires to become a Navy Seal after graduation, did much research and planning before the work of digging and planting began in June.
"My intention is for people to visit this place and be able to reflect on their freedoms and thank those who have heard the call to serve our Nation. Every plant, tree, shrub and object in this Garden were especially chosen for their symbolism."
Ethan Koska
The construction of the Honor Garden Project is the result of a group effort that included teammates from wrestling, girls from the basketball team, Boy Scouts from Troop 597, as well as, family and friends. They all gladly pitched in and labored over this past summer to create an everlasting tribute to Neuqua Valley's military alumni. Through the generosity of family, community and business donations such as, Operation Welcome You Home, The Naperville Exchange Club, BMO/ Harris Bank and Likes Landscaping, as well as Ethan's own fundraising efforts the Honor Garden was completed in August with the installment of the limestone markers representing the five military branches.
A flag that flew over the US Capitol, donated by US Congressman Randy Hultgren, will be flown briefly during the dedication before finding its permanent display at the high school.
"The support of our Military Heroes from a young [soon to be] Eagle Scout- Ethan Koska, is truly a demonstration of what true American Patriotism is!"
